One of the important methods in selecting and processing a creative story appropriately is to use the capacities of the literary genre of the novel. Due to its appropriate capacities in the category of characterization, the novel is a suitable platform for modeling and using them in storytelling. The purpose of this research is to examine characterization in young people's novels about the Holy Defense and its function in storytelling. Some young people's novels have the ability to use parts of them in the form of storytelling for young people through creative rewriting or re-creation. For example, the novel "The Romance of Yunus in the Belly of the Fish" has this ability due to its "movements". The research method is in the form of content analysis and the method of collecting information is in the form of reviewing library documents. Other results obtained in the 7 novels examined include the following: With humorous stories, the violence of war can be softened for children and young people. In "Samsam Alley and Parts of Existence", the capacity for humor has been well utilized. Also, the use of the capacities of local language and expression and the appropriate treatment of characters with special needs in the novels "Hasti" and "Only Dad Can Wake Me Up" are other capabilities of these novels in storytelling. One point that should be noted is that most storytellers complain about the lack of resources in this field, and this study revealed that storytellers can benefit from these resources in choosing their stories.
