A dependence on changes in the realm of human thought is possessed by any transformation in literature, and literary criteria are also transformed by the alteration of philosophical mentality. The most important change in human mentality in the contemporary era is believed by scholars to have been manifested by the emergence of postmodernism; because the search for truth and its understanding had been claimed by all great philosophers from Plato onwards, whereas truth is considered neither attainable nor desirable by postmodern thinkers, and a fixed, singular, and stable reality is deemed meaningless by them. Massive transformations in the humanities have been brought about by this perception. A new atmosphere has been imposed upon world literature by the introduction of this attitude. These transformations were introduced to Persian literature starting from the 1360s (1980s), and the realm of poetry was gradually entered by them from the domain of the novel. Ali Babachahi is counted among the poets by whom poetry was composed with such an approach, and he can be regarded as the most pioneering representative of Iranian postmodern poetry. The postmodern manifestations in Babachahi's poems are intended to be analyzed by this article, and the manner in which this type of poetry was composed by the poet in a postmodern atmosphere is aimed to be demonstrated. It is indicated by the results that the emphasis on postmodern components in Babachahi's poetry as a style is caused by a specific dynamic; although fixed matters are seemingly escaped by postmodernism, and the arena of particularities and individualities is constituted by it, postmodern literature is inevitably shaped around central signifiers because those very signifiers are possessed by the movement. Hence, these components can be interpreted not only as the stylistic characteristics of an individual but also as those of the postmodern era.
