Among the sources of inspiration for Persian novelists in the contemporary period, in addition to Western storytellers and the ancient Persian story-writing tradition, has been the language and folk literature. With the arrival of the novel as an imported format from the West, the necessity of localizing it and adapting it to Iranian culture and taste prompted writers to utilize the potential of folk literature, especially in historical novels and novels related to sustainable literature, which show a kind of return to native culture. This feature is seen in the novel Jade Jang by Mansour Anvari, and the aim of this research is to make references to folk tales and poems in this novel, based on the documentary method. The research findings show that references to folk tales have contributed to the richness of the narrative structure and have had a significant impact on showing the physical and psychological face of individuals. Folk poems and pieces have also been effective in creating an emotional atmosphere and expressing cultural ideas. Finally, the results of this study indicate that the elements of popular literature in the novel "The Road of War" play a role beyond verbal and narrative decoration and are functionally used to serve characterization, atmosphere, plot development, and socio-political criticism. By creatively utilizing this oral heritage, Anvari has made the narrative more popular and established a meaningful link between official and popular culture.
