Literature is not just a narrative of emotions, events, and characters, but can also be a reflection of the real lives of people and the material conditions of society. Thus, one of the most important ways to understand a literary work is to pay attention to its economic dimension; that is, what the characters consume, what goods they have access to, and what is considered a sign of poverty or prosperity or class difference. Goods, the type of clothing, the tools of labor, food, and even the way the characters live can all be signs of economic and social status. For this reason, examining literature from an economic perspective is a way to understand the world of the story more deeply and its relationship to social reality. The novel Tangsir by Sadegh Chobak is a very suitable work for economic analysis, because it carefully reflects the details of the material lives of the characters. In this story, the differences between the characters are evident even in the type of clothing, equipment, food, and their level of access to facilities. These differences clearly show how the economy can affect the lifestyle, social status, and even the way the characters look at the world.
