Contemporary Persian literature, due to the socio-political events of contemporary history, has been a suitable platform for the emergence of various literary movements. One of the most important of these movements is the social symbolism movement. The poets of this contemporary poetry movement have realized that due to the factors and obstacles that have made their social life difficult and difficult, and a large part of them is the oppression caused by the oppression of foreign and domestic enemies; it is not possible to stand firm and resist social adversity through explicit and direct literature, so it is necessary to address the concepts of the literature of stability in another way, and that is by using indirect and symbolic expression. In this study, the symbols of persistence regarding the component of oppression and suffocation in the poetry of one of the most famous contemporary Persian poets, Simin Behbahani, are examined from the perspective of Lakoff-Johnson's conceptual metaphor theory in order to answer the question: "What are the symbols of oppression and suffocation and the metaphorical mappings of this category in the poems of this contemporary poet?" The results show that Simin uses 95 different symbols a total of 239 times in addressing the component of oppression, and her most frequently used symbol in this concept is the symbol of night with a frequency of 39 repetitions. ...
