Rereading stories based on contemporary theories can reveal hidden aspects of meanings to the reader and increase the scope of his understanding of the text. Les Miserables is a narrative of poverty, hardship, and oppression that dominates a society that tries to achieve social reform with rigid and crushing laws. It seems that Victor Hugo has another proposal for social reform in this work and, by resorting to eternal ideas and archetypes such as the hero, the master, and the shadow... tries to guide the hero on the path to happiness by returning from the prison of vices to a human-divine journey from darkness to light and perfection. In this descriptive-analytical essay, Les Miserables has been measured using Christopher Vogler's model of the hero's journey in order to examine the comparative ability of this work with a contemporary theory and the extent of its model inclusion. The findings show that the text of the story is mixed with archetypes and conforms to all stages of the author's hero's journey model, which is a theory based on the existence of specific and fixed ideas in the hero's journey and includes three acts and twelve stages; however, there are slight shifts and differences in its stages based on the characteristics of Vogler's hero's journey model, which can be explained.
