Literary criticism in the modern sense and fiction criticism as a branch of it do not have a long history in Iran. Examining the methods and approaches of professors and researchers in modern literary criticism is a step towards understanding part of the history of contemporary literature. One of the influential figures in this field is Gholamhossein Yousefi, who as a researcher, critic, proofreader, and professor of literature has made many contributions to the progress and expansion of literary studies by criticizing and analyzing more than a hundred literary works. In addition to ancient literary texts, he has also studied contemporary and Western literature, and his analyses are a combination of traditional aesthetics and modern analytical methods. Examining the elements of fiction from Yousefi's perspective helps to understand how these elements evolved in the context of Persian literature. In this article, based on a library method, by examining Yousefi's works, the components of story criticism are analyzed from his perspective. By citing evidence, it is shown how he deals with issues such as the language of the work, plot, scene and characterization, point of view and realism, and attaches importance to the artistic combination of these elements, and in this, he places believability as the most fundamental point.
